Augustus the Strong

also: August der Starke, Augustus II of Saxony

Elector of Saxony and King of Poland (1670-1733), proverbial for bodily strength (said to bend pewter plates and horseshoes); in the Fifth Elegy he is the image of the careless 'grip' that rolls the acrobats like a plate at table.
