Henrik Holck
Henrik Holck (1599-1633), Danish-born general in Imperial service in the Thirty Years' War, Count and Field Marshal by thirty-three; portrayed with one eye painted black, he died of the plague. The book tells how a dream of a bare sword in place of his bride turned him to his short, reckless career.
